Product Safety and Care

Miri Fragrances wants you to enjoy our beautiful products however there are risks associated with candles and reed diffusers. It is important that you read the following safety instructions.

IMPORTANT WARNING

  1. Never leave a burning candle unattended

  2. Never burn a candle on or near anything that might catch fire

  3. Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

 

Failure to follow our safety and care instructions could result in fire, hazard or injury.

Candle Safety Instructions

  1. It is important to never leave a burning candle unattended.

  2. If fragrance is desired in spaces that are out of sight, our reed diffuser are a suitable alternative.

  3. Keep the candle away from flammable or combustible materials (such as curtains or fabric).

  4. Burn away from draughts as they cause uneven burning, decrease burn time, smoking and diminished scent throw.

  5. Keep wax free of any debris. Never introduce liquids or objects to the container.

  6. Never burn for more than 3 hours at a time.

  7. Never use a candle as a night light or while you may fall asleep.

  8. Burn on a flat, sturdy, heat and fire safe surface. Do not place on or near an electrical device.

  9. Do not burn the candle if the glass container is cracked, chipped or broken.

  10. Do not touch or move a candle while it is burning as the glass and wax is hot. Ensure candle is extinguished, wax is solid and glass jar is cold before handling.

  11. Do not burn your candle all the way down, always leave a minimum of 10-15mm of unmelted wax at the bottom.

  12. Do not use the lid to extinguish the candle. Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle as it is the safest way to prevent hot wax from splattering. If not available, blow gently and steadily on the flame until it is extinguished. Then straighten wick and ensure the wick is in the centre of the jar. Do not extinguish with water as this may cause hot wax to splatter and might break the glass container.

  13. Make sure the candle is completely out and the wick ember is no longer glowing before leaving your room.

Diffuser Safety Instructions

  1. Liquid is flammable.

  2. Keep away from flames or heat. Do not light the reeds.

  3. Use only in well ventilated areas.

  4. Do NOT drink contents of the bottle. In case of accidental consumption please contact the Victoria Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.

  5. Do not allow the diffuser liquid to touch skin or eyes. Use gloves when handling. Always wash your hands if you touch the oil.

  6. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

  7. Keep in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight

  8. The longevity of your reed diffuser will vary based on a variety of factors, airflow, ambient temperature, ambient humidity and the number of reeds used. Air conditioning, heating, humidity and draughts can also have an effect.

Candle Care Instructions

Miri Fragrances wants you to get the most “life” out of your products. Here are some helpful care instructions to follow.

Candle Care instructions

  1. First Burn: Burn until wax melts across the entire surface to the edge of the glass to create a memory burn (approximately 1-2 hours) and sets the stage for future burns. This prevents tunnelling where the wick sinks, leaving unmelted wax around the edge.

  2. Trim Wicks: Trim wicks down to 5mm before each burn. This encourages a clean, even and smoke free burn.

  3. Burn Time: Do not burn for more than 3 hours at a time. Wait 2+ hours for the candle to reset before relighting.

  4. Candle life: Discontinue use when 10-12mm of wax remains at the bottom of the jar.

  5. Storage: Keep candle in a cool, dry place, below 30 degrees.

  6. Cleaning: There is always going to be soot left on the jar after burning your candle. When the candle is extinguished and the glass jar has cooled, use a damp cloth or baby wipe to clean the glass. Never use a knife or sharp object to remove wax drippings from our glass containers. It might scratch, weaken or cause the glass to break on subsequent use.

  7. Recycle, Reuse or Restyle: Clean it out, repurpose the jar or recycle glass. Clean the jar with hot soapy water. Remember do not pour liquid wax down your drains as it will solidify and block your drains.

  8. Reorder another Miri Fragrance Candle to enjoy.

Diffuser Care Instructions

  1. Unscrew the cap from the diffuser bottle and carefully remove the plastic stopper from the top of the bottle.

  2. Insert the reeds into the bottle and fan the reeds out evenly. The reeds will then start to draw the liquid up through the sticks and create a beautiful throw. Allow the reeds to soak inside for 5-10 minutes. Afterwards flip the reeds so the opposite ends are immersed. This helps to ensure a consistent aroma. Flip the reeds once a week to refresh the scent

  3. Place your hand poured reed diffuser on a small coaster or tray as the liquid may damage surfaces. Position away from children and pets.

  4. Wipe any spillages immediately with damp cloth.

  5. Keep away from dust, sunlight, direct heat and draughts to maximise longevity.

  6. Recycle, reuse or restyle: repurpose the vessel as a vase or container. Clean the jar with hot soapy water.

  7. Reorder another Miri Fragrance product to enjoy.
